Ocean of Dreams emerges alternately as active and ambient, urgent and languid. The music’s moiré-like textures weave against surprising melodies and harmonies, originating from the many percussion instruments used. It is a music that seems to emanate from the environment itself, creating connections that link a series of enchanted landscapes.

All the musical sounds on these recordings originate from acoustic sources, and are frequently enhanced with electronic contouring. The music consists of dream-like landscapes in which gamelan sounds and small collections of percussion instruments are the components that make up the Luminous Gamelan Orchestra, ever elusive, continually changing to fit in with or play against the landscape. Additional performers within this orchestra are percussionist Signy Jakobsdottir and vocalist Jana Szabo. Recorded in 1993 at Transdimensional Bedroom Studios, Seattle.
